Why Test More Than TSH?

A thyroid disease can be diagnosed through signs, symptoms and lab testing. There are multiple thyroid hormones that can and should be assessed when determining if the thyroid is imbalanced. The most common (and often only!) lab test that is run is your thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). A Complete Thyroid Assessment provides insight into the major thyroid hormones and thyroid antibodies that inform on thyroid disorders.

A Complete Thyroid Assessment may be suggested when signs or symptoms of hyper- or hypothyroidism are presenting, or if there are hormone imbalances present that affect the function of the thyroid (i.e. high cortisol or elevated estrogens).
